1.2 million people contact Council’s one stop shop in 2017

Parking, rates, and plumbing have topped the list of the most common enquiries to Council’s contact centre in 2017, with more than 1.2 million residents and businesses contacting Council via phone, text message, social media or online to pose questions on Council matters.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said Council’s award winning contact centre continued to provide a one stop shop for all Council related issues, providing residents with a direct point of contact 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Council works hard to ensure Brisbane is a great place to live, work and relax, and offering 24 hour assistance to residents is an important part of helping to make our city the safe, vibrant and friendly place it is,” Cr Quirk said.

“Last year alone, Council helped answer more than 910,000 phone calls covering a variety of services to residents, including parking, rates, lost property, and pet registration.

“With more and more people using social media to communicate, the Contact Centre also responded to more than 84,500 enquiries via social media channels last year, as well as nearly 245,000 website enquiries.”

Cr Quirk said each and every day in 2017, the Contact Centre responded to more than 3,200 enquiries, spanning from general requests for information or advice through to complaints.

“Enquiries relating to parking represent the largest number of questions to Council with more than 72,000 in 2017,” he said.

“This covers a range of parking enquiries including parking rules, permit requests and traffic enquiries. 

“We want the community to be engaged with our city and services, which means we are open for business 24/7 to ensure customers can get the best possible experience dealing with Council.”
